Incense clings to the Corpse's abdomen
Great is Allah! Not I for I was born
To loathe myself and drink through my thin skin
Evening's hope and the naked fright of dawn

Deader and deader. "Little joke corpse!" Yeah, I shrank beyond belief; I'd even fit quite neatly inside the bowl of my ridiculouslyminiscule briarwood pipe. Ishmael they call me, Father Ishmael. I'm such a pipsqueak, though, they have got to be kidding. Being dead means very light housekeeping. It's dark, and cold. Cold as the dawn of a new Ice Age. A sage frostbitten under gelid palmtrees. The pallor of one's foibles. Dark: A rat standing at attention on the tip of his hairless tail squealing bloody murder without the slightest movement of his snout. Cold: Across an almond-green plain a procession of pale blue elephants walking backwards. Dark: A diminutive stringbean of a rat hovers on dragonfly wings. Cold: A wee purple face glares out of a winejar's bulging glassy midriff. Dark: Two perfectly identical human mouths kiss each other to death. Cold: A truncated male torso gives with a significant wink. Dark: Above clouds or black sands. Idols of old religions set up. Facing them, horror in tar: the grin of certain dead people. Cold ...—Polar ...— I'm entombed

FTF Radio is a space where the art of sound converges with cultural and educational exploration. Since 2017, we have hosted and produced radio shows and sound projects by and with artists, musicians, and creatives. Our platform is not just a radio station—it’s a medium for curatorial and artistic practices, fostering dialogue, research, and experimentation.

At FTF Radio, we believe in supporting the artistic process. We work closely with our collaborators, providing guidance on approaches, formats, methods, and distribution. We also offer technical assistance to help bring sound projects to life, emphasizing process over output and striving to build long-lasting relationships. We see radio as a dynamic and discursive platform that allows for creative exchange and the exploration of new ideas. Our collaborations range from conversations and sound pieces to audio essays and performances, all rooted in a commitment to innovation and cultural relevance.
Our program welcomes projects and activations critically engaged with contemporary and experimental practices revolving around afro-indigenous histories, preservation of culture and community building. We aim to hold space for open expression while maintaining a no-tolerance policy for exclusion or discrimination of any kind.
Broadcast from Leimert Park, FTF Radio collaborates with artists and organizations both locally and remotely. We are a small, dedicated team of artists, curators, and researchers who work together to create a platform that truly reflects the pulse of contemporary culture. Our commitment to supporting our collaborators is reflected in how we allocate our resources—investing in both the artists we work with and the infrastructure that sustains our platform.
Interested in collaborating? We’d love to hear from you. Let’s explore the future of sound together.new: trust signal vol. 1 [deep listening + ambient mix]This volume highlights records from the artists featured in the Black Sound Artist Series — sounds that shaped their practice, informed their process, or live inside the lineage of Black experimental and avant-garde work. This index is a growing record of the continuums that define our field: noise, performance, improvisation, ritual, ambient, jazz-adjacent, diasporic rhythm, electronic, and the undefinable in between. Every selection becomes a point of reference — a signal in the archive. [Full index]
