SANCTUARY: Sound and Communal Healing

Sanctuary is an ongoing research project and performance series exploring the healing power of sound, particularly through Afro-Ambient and Electro-Acoustic music traditions. The project investigates how sound, rooted in African diasporic traditions, can be used as a tool for communal healing, spiritual reflection, and cultural preservation. By blending live performance, field recordings, and traditional instruments, Sanctuary creates immersive soundscapes that invite participants into deep listening and reflection. It is also a key part of FTF’s research into the future of sound art as a means of community engagement and collective transformation.

Sanctuary  intentionally weave together live performances, sound healing sessions, and holistic offerings like breathwork and meditation practices. Each session is thoughtfully curated to create an environment where attendees can engage in profound listening, reflection, and communal exchange, all within the framework of Afro-diasporic and ambient sound traditions. Food and drinks are also harmoniously integrated, rounding out an evening that nourishes both the body and the spirit. The Sanctuary experience aims to be a site of transformation, fostering moments where sound, space, and community intersect.
